Against Me! have become one of the largest local bands to come from Gainesville, FL which is quite the statement as local bands include Hot Water Music, Less Than Jake and none other than Tom Petty. Starting off in 1997 as a solo act, Tom Gabel fine tuned the lineup and after years of touring and releasing stellar material on Plan It X Records, Sabot Productions, No Idea Records, and then Fat Wreck Chords came to a high point in their career in the summer/fall of 2005. After releasing their tour DVD “We’re Never Going Home”, playing Warped Tour that year and headlining the Fat Wreck tour, their final show was at home, headlining The FEST 4. A “We’re Never Going Home…Homecoming” if you will. Whether you’re an old Against Me! fan or a new fan you’ll find this is one of the best compilations of their past work, playing it at home to one of the best crowds of their career.

Shook Ones / Paint It Black – Apartment Show (The Fest 6)
Our buddies in Spanish Gamble (at the time Dirty Money and before that the guys that put us up at Fest V and helped us on tour with Less Than Jake…brothers to say the least) planned out a series of house shows for Fest 6 after a surprisingly successful couple at Fest V. The shows were planned out to have only one surprise headliner that never showed, with the rest being smaller acts. Dr. Dan Yemin asked if Paint It Black could play and Ryan, of course, said yeah. Only problem is that their apartment was on the second floor and when you cram 250 kids in, the floor sunk. The ceiling in the apartment downstairs apparently fell. They went on a two month tour before the office opened on Monday and never heard anything about it. Oh, and the best part was that the cops came and just hung out at 3am at a punk show. Only in Gainesville. This was shot by Joe Olmestad who was on tour with Shook Ones…we didn’t have any audio there cause we were breaking down after recording Naked Raygun at the Venue.

Interview with Joey Cape from Lagwagon and Jon Snodgrass from Drag the River
Vinyl Vlog: First Press Episode Nine w/Mike Park – Asian Man Records
Episode Nine has an amazing interview with Mike Park at the Asian Man Records Headquarters (Mike’s Mom’s Garage) as they discuss the label’s history (putting out only vinyl back in the day), vinyl over the years (handing out Alkaline Trio records ten years ago to kids that thought they were calendars) and the resurgence of vinyl (“I didn’t know test presses were worth anything”) from Mike’s perspective. Plus a review of the new release from our buddies imadethismistake. Enjoy!
The Gaslight Anthem – Video Interview
Call the Office in London Ontario, it’s a treasure in the live music scene, and the only place in my general area known well enough to capture the attention of the bands I love. It was there I sang with The Matches, watched The Weakerthans in awe…twice, almost passed out from the heat during A Streetlight Manifesto show and it was there I won a watch by stripping down to my boxers and running a lap around the bar. It holds a lot of memories for me so what better venue to see The Gaslight Anthem, the newest and best band to come out in a while.
Vinyl Vlog: First Press Episode Eight w/Vinnie from Less Than Jake/Paper + Plastic – Round One
Episode Ocho (or Eight for you gringos) features another vinyl giveaway and the best damn interview I’ve ever seen with Vinnie from Paper + Plastick Records…he also has a little local band down here in Florida you’ve probably never heard of called Less Than Jake. It also features their new intro (yes, another new one…but this one is better).
